My new build is missing OS files for ethernet and various other programs. after all you own the license to the software right. and just add the files to your image you backed up reburn it and install it that way. this will do a quick format and just clean the drive instead of doing it for 10 to 15 minutes or you could back up that image of your xp and browse the net for how to make an xp cd with sp 1 and 2 on it. simple use a dos boot disk and when your booted up type format c: (or what ever your system drive is that your using) /q and hit enter and confirm it. but if you desires to wipe clean the harddrive. goto and install the updates you can get sp2 from here and you can also use windows updates to get missing files as well. Wiping it clean is really easy to do and while your rmaing your cds.
